Games: Fallout 3 Romance
(Via Rock, Paper, Shotgun) You know, I actually watched this then went “Awwwwww!” in an incredibly high pitch, alone in an empty flat.
This is an absolute triumph for couple-based gaming geekery everywhere. The closest I’ve come to this sort of gaming romance is watching the lady squee along to World of Goo while I sat there watching, having not completed the bloody thing yet, as she finished the whole game in a single sitting. Clearly, that’s not as much romantic as it is infuriating. This, though, is simply wonderful.
The idea: a young lady Stateside wants to propose to her mister, a Fallout 3 fan. So she enlists the help of the modding community (quick note, as I realise I’m not just writing for game fans here: by that I mean amateur game developers working for free off the original game’s code) to create a scenario in which an in-game version of herself calls to her mister for help. And then proposes, in-game, with in-game dialogue options for ‘yes’ and ‘no’. A video of the whole thing playing out is below the jump. Isn’t it just adorable?
